This is the 1918 Caribbean yearbook from Cristobal High School, located on the Atlantic side of the isthmus of Panama in the American Canal Zone town of Cristobal. This is the first yearbook issued for this school with only 5 teachers, less than 30 students total and a graduating class of only 6 students. The contents include faculty and student activities. The end of the yearbook has cool advertisements from familiar places in Colon and on the Atlantic side of the former Panama Canal Zone. Go Tigers!

This yearbook is very rare. I don't think the the Panama Canal Museum archives has a copy of this issue. It was the office copy for Cristobal High School. There is light wear from gentle handling and no writing on any of the internal pages. The binding is in very nice condition, but there are some discoloration spots and light creases on the back cover. Overall, this copy is in very nice condition.

Many of the yearbooks from the Panama Canal Zone have been digitized and are available as free downloadable JPGs on the University of Florida's archival website ( CHS ; BHS ), but you cannot search the text on graphics and reading jpegs on iBooks is not easy on your eyes. You can also purchase Xerox copies of yearbooks from Classmates.com for about $80, but it is much better to purchase an original copy of this yearbook to keep in your own collection.
