Pat Dunn paid a visit to the Louvre in Paris in November 2002 and sent in a photograph of a marvelous incised ceremonial boomerang made out of a hippopotamus tooth. The boomerang was made during the Moyen Empire period which lasted from approximately 2033 to 1710 BC. Karnak was the Pharoah during this period. Hippo teeth are a lousy material for making boomerangs but the airfoiling is extraordinary and very much like what you would find on a good returner. This photo is very large so that you can see the detail and read the print. Please be patient while the graphic loads. This one is worth seeing!
