Volker is famous for making the Challenger III boomerang for long distance throwing. Before there was a Challenger III, there was a Challenger II and it had a shape similar to the Herb Smith Tornado. This Challenger II was made out of 3.2 mm Paxolin and painted yellow with purple and black tips. There is a weight taped on the underside of the lift arm tip and a coin weight has been added to the underside of the dingle arm. This boomerang is not in new condition, but it is in very good to excellent condition. I obtained this boomerang from Volker at one of the International Team Cup events in the late 1980s. Volker demonstrated several very long distance flights before he gave it to me. Because I am left handed, I cannot give it enough power for proper performance, so it has sat idle for nearly 25 years. A rare and wonderful collectible from this famous LD boom maker.

Specifications: Right Handed ; Tip-to-tip Span = 33 cm ; Weight = 76 gm

Volker Behrens was a well known commercial manufacturer of sporting and competition boomerang products. Volker was also a competitor and a member of the German International Boomerang Team. Volker was a pioneer in the development of long distance boomerangs and he demonstrated throws of 150 metres in the 1980s with his popular Challenger III Paxolin Hook. Volker made the last of his boomerang products in 2011 and he died in June, 2012. His boomerangs have become great collectibles because they are considered to be comparable to boomerangs made by Herb Smith.
