This strip laminated V was made in 1987 out of a large number of very thin veneers. The hardwood veneers include: Oak, Maple, Ebony and Bubinga. Volker called this model the " V Omega " on his website. This boomerang is signed and dated February 1987. I did not test throw this boomerang, but I have thrown others from this series and they were all very nice flyers with a flight range of 35-40 metres. It is in excellent condition with no damage of any kind. Volker considered this model to be among his most prized boomerangs because he priced it at 140 Euros on his website.
Volker Behrens was a well known commercial manufacturer of sporting and competition boomerang products. Volker was also a competitor and a member of the German International Boomerang Team. Volker was a pioneer in the development of long distance boomerangs and he demonstrated throws of 150 metres in the 1980s with his popular Challenger III Paxolin Hook. Volker made the last of his boomerang products in 2011 and he died in June, 2012. His boomerangs have become great collectibles because they are considered to be comparable to boomerangs made by Herb Smith. |
