Dennis Maxwell is one of the most respected boomerang
throwers from Down Under. Dennis is a professional Engineer
who was on the team that beat the Americans in 1984. He was
one of their better throwers and was also President of the
Boomerang Association of Australia. Dennis made very few
boomerangs for sale or trade. This left handed traditional was made in the late 1970s.
It was given to Max Hoeben for Tony Van der Gijp, who was a
left handed thrower. The boomerang is painted the
traditional yellow and green Aussie colors. The underside of
the elbow has Max Hoeben's collection tag (#87). The design
is very similar to that of the older Hawes M17. The flight
is very accurate with a 20 metre range and a hover at the
end. A small hole was drilled in the elbow, possibly for
hanging on the wall or for adding a sparkler for night
flying. A Dennis Maxwell boomerang is very rare and
difficult to find in any condition.
