This sport hook was made out of 1/4 inch plywood and painted orange with white tips on both sides. Carl Naylor's name and address and the date Sept. 29, 1986 is printed on the underside of the elbow. This was one of Carl's favorite boomerangs from his throw kit and it has wear and some minor paint chips on the edges, but no dings or cracks. I did a test throw on this boomerang prior to listing it and found that it is a very good flyer with a flight range of 50+ metres. A fine and rare collectible boomerang by a famous American thrower.
Carl Naylor was the first President of the USBA and a major force in the organization of early tournaments. Carl was not a strong competitor because of his age, but he was an inspiration to all. His boomerangs were always painted orange and white and everyone wanted one of his hooks, even though they were not marketed, but given to his friends. Carl lived in Brooklyn, New York and he passed away in the 1990s. |
