This traditional boomerang was made by Richard Gardner in the 1970s or 1980s. It was acquired by Max Hoeben in a trade in 1989. I acquired it from Max in 1994. This boomerang was made out of a Marine plywood with Mahogany plies. The shape is similar to Bob Burwell's Rippah. The elbow has nice multicolored pen art depicting the Tower of London. The tips have art depicting a guard in a guardhouse and a black figure of a man throwing a boomerang. Very good condition and a wonderful flyer with a flight range of about 25 metres. The flight is low and circular.
Richard Gardner was an Englishman who made sport boomerangs. I know nothing about his history except he was a personal friend of Max Hoeben. From what Max told me, Richard made boomerangs in the 1970s and 1980s. |
