Brother Brian Thomas was Australia's ambassador to the
world of boomerangs for more than three decades. Brian was
the glue that held the Aussies together and for his
services, the Boomerang Association of Australia (BAA) gave
him the title of National Boomerang Coach. Brian was also
the editor of the BAA newsletter for many years. The
newsletter issues that Brian produced remain valuable
historical records of what happened in Australian during the
golden age of boomerangs (1960s through the 1980s). Brian
was also a boomerang collector. He appreciated boomerangs
made by fine craftsman like the Janetzki Brothers and Herb
Smith long before anyone else did and over the years, his
collection became quite valuable. Brian also made a very
limited number of boomerangs. Collectors are always happy to
have examples of Brian's boomerangs in their
collections. This throwing kit comes from the Brother Brian Thomas
estate. It is filled with small lighter weight boomerangs.
There are 6 Balsawood cross sticks, all brightly colored.
Some are held together with rubber bands and some are glued.
There is a Balsawood lapped two blader amd five light weight
outdoor models. All are in good condition except for the
flaired V, second from bottom on right, which has a repair.
The container is old suede or fake leather and has wear,
some holes, a loss of thread in some areas and rough
zippers, but is still very functional. Brian painted a
bright red traditional boomerang on one side. Overall, this
is an unusual collectable directly from the Brother Brian
Thomas estate.
