This light weight traditional boomerang was made out of strips of Mahogany and Ash. This is a very early Bertling strip laminated boomerang. It is signed and numbered as #53. Nice airfoiling, but band saw cutting lines are visible on the flat side. This boomerang has one of the most obtuse angles I have ever seen in a returner. When I first received this boomerang in 1987, I didn't think it would have a returning flight. I was surprised to find that it is a good flyer and it has hover, similar in flight to a MTA, but shorter duration. A nice collectible and this one would make a good design to study for its flight characteristics.
Gerhard Bertling is a master boomerang craftsman from Germany. He makes excellent sport and competition boomerangs and often makes special boomerangs out of strip laminated hardwoods. Gerhard was also involved with the production of Bumerang Welt and a comprehensive website full of information about boomerang history, science and art. |
