This beautiful art boomerang depicts a lizard from Central America called the Basilisk. It was made in 2005 out of Birch plywood. It is signed and dated and in new condition. A wonderful and collectible art boomerang.

As a child, I lived in the town of Gatun in the Panama Canal Zone. Less than a km from the north end of the famous Gatun Locks, there was a drainage canal approximately 10 metres wide and 2 meters deep. Along both sides of this stream, there was a barren shoreline with dozens of these marvelous lizards. We called them Jesus Christ lizards because when we tried to catch them, they would run across the surface of the water to the opposite shore with only their feet getting wet. Actually, the small ones could do this, but the large adults would sink half way across and swim the rest of the way. I never was able to catch one without help from a friend hiding on the opposite shore. It was these memories that prompted me to purchase this boomerang from Pat Cardiff.
