Before the use of tribladers in tournaments, Fast Catch boomerangs were large and usually V shaped with the dingle arm longer than the lift arm and with the underside scooped out to add camber. This increased the ratio of the torque produced by the lift forces to the rotational inertia and the result was a very fast short range boomerang. Tuning, weights and tape were also necessary to fine tune the Fast Catch. John Flynn was one of the top rated competitors in the early days of Fast Catch. This boomerang is one of the earliest, a historical treasure made in 1982 and in excellent condition. This boomerang is signed, but not dated.
John Flynn has been one of America's top boomerang throwers for almost 3 decades. John is especially well known for his competitiveness in the Fast Catch event. However, John is skilled in all of the competition events and has been a prominent member of an American boomerang team in almost every international event. John makes a large percentage of the boomerangs in his throw kit. He also made a series of 100 strip laminated omegas and hooks that had the same high performance as the famous Gerhards hooks and omegas. Very few Flynn boomerangs make it into collections because John rarely made anything for sale to others. |
