This competition hook is one of the most famous boomerangs from Down Under. When Rob Croll went through my collection in the mid 1980s, It is made out of Coachwood Bluey's golden kangaroo is glued to the elbow and the blades are decorated with beautiful incised art. I acquired this boomerang from Marjorie Gerrish. She, and her husband, John Gerrish, saw Bluey Williams beat Bunny Read in the National Championships using this boomerang. Jon Gerrish acquired it directly from Bluey Williams at the end of the tournament. Marjorie Gerrish gave me a sheet of paper with John Gerrish's letterhead and the provenance " Swan Hill 1972, Bluey Williams beat Bunny Read in the playoffs with this boom. First Tournament I'd seen" hand written in ink on this sheet. It is in excellent condition. I have never thrown it so I do not think it has been thrown since 1972. It obviously has a flight range of more than 50 metres.

Specifications: Right Handed ; Tip-to-tip Span = 39 cm ; Weight = 119 gm

Bluey Williams was one of Australia's top competitors in the 1960s and early 1970s. His boomerangs always had a metal kangaroo glued to the elbow. Bluey won the World Championships at Swan Hill in the early 1970s. His nickname, Bluey, is Aussie slang for someone with red hair.
