Norm Kern is a well known boomerang craftman who made a large number of sport boomerangs in the 1990s. Norm was also the host of many boomerang tournaments in the Detroit, Michigan suburbs. The blank for this strip laminated hook was made by John Cryderman out of Oak strips. The shape is identical to that of the Al Gerhards standard hook, but the hook is not weighted. The surface is smooth and is finished with polyurethane. The flight range is 35-40 metres and it requires some wind for a full return. Both John Cryderman and Norm Kern have signed this hook and it is numbered as #600 on the underside. This hook is in excellent, almost new, condition. The only flaw is a strip that has a natural knot near the elbow. This trip is internal and the boomerang is expected to have nearly full strength, even with this defect. This is a very rare boomerang. Norm made very few boomerangs out of materials other than plywood and this is one of John Cryderman's better blanks. |
