This triblader was made out of 3.4 mm Paxolin plywood in 1991. Both sides are painted to enhance visibility. All 3 tips have a small hole. The underside of the leading edge is beveled. Signed and dated 1991. Volker made this one as a Fast Catch boomerang for windy conditions. Under ideal conditions, it is too slow to compete against the faster Birch plywood models, but this one has great wind resistance. In addition to a wind Fast catch, I liked this one for the Endurance event. Some wear from my own use, but no damage. A wonderful competition model with some history.
Volker Behrens was a well known commercial manufacturer of sport and competition boomerang products. Volker was also a competitor and a member of the German International Boomerang Team. Volker was a pioneer in the development of long distance boomerangs and he demonstrated throws of 150 metres in the 1980s with his popular Challenger III Paxolin Hook. Volker made the last of his boomerang products in 2011 and he died in June, 2012. His boomerangs have become great collectibles because they are considered to be comparable to boomerangs made by Herb Smith. |
