Barnaby Ruhe is one of America's most beloved boomerang
throwers and a strong competitor. Barnaby is a graduate of
the Naval Academy (Oliver North's classmate) so he is
naturally gifted in competition strategy. Barnaby was
involved in the earliest days of American competition and he
has a good pedigree with Uncle Ben Ruhe and cousins Peter
and Larry Ruhf as family members. Barnaby is still involved
in competition. He was on the International Team that
competed in Japan in 2006, a full 25 years after his first
international competition when he was on the American Team
for the 1981 USA-Australia Challenge Match. This juggling set was made for the Juggling event in
1988. Both boomerangs are painted with flourescent orange
paint and dated 1988. One has " Fred " and the other has "
Ginger " to show that they are a matched set (Fred Astaire
& Ginger Rogers). The range on these are a bit shy of 20
metres, so they were made for throwing in calm conditions. I
did test these and found that they are about the best
juggling set I have ever used. They are perfectly tuned!
Barnaby even put a star on the upper surface of one and two
stars on the upper surface of the other. This Juggling set
is in very good condition. They are a valuable artifact from
an event that is no longer contested in tournaments.
