This large traditional boomerang was made in 1998 by Bluey Roberts, an Australian Aboriginal artist from the (Ngarrindjeri Tribe. This is a premium art piece made out of a light weight and dark color Acacia natural elbow. It was decorated with fine incised art on the entire upper surface. The art includes two kangaroos, a serpent, a long necked turtle and a creature that I cannot identify easily. The space between the animals is covered with lines, circles and other Aboriginal art. The photo does not adequately portray the beauty of this piece. It has dark art over dark wood making it difficult to photograph, but it is beautiful to the naked eye. Signed and dated in the underside of the elbow. Other than a few very tiny natural wood blemishes, this boomerang is in excellent condition and one of the nicest contemporary art boomerangs I have seen. It will display very nicely on the wall. |
