This hunting boomerang, or throwstick was made out of Mulga, a dense desert hardwood, probably in the late 19th or early 20th Centuries. Both sides are textured with small and shallow adze marks. The shape is that of the long distance design which is common for desert regions of Australia. The underside of the narrow end has a shallow section flaked off. I am sure that this was done during the construction process. There is a hint of ochre finish on the surfaces. A very nice artifact that was made for hunting. I acquired this artifact from Rob Croll, a collector from Melbourne, Australia in 1998.

Length = 64 cm ; Weight = 286 gm
