This heavy Mandayan spear from East Mindanao has a hardwood haft and a file sharpened blade made out of watered steel. The butt has a forged iron conical spike. Very nice condition andwith a fine patina. This item was purchased from the Fagan Arms catalog in the 1990s. It was listed as being very old in the catalog. One visitor to this web page claims that this spear was made between 1960-1970. That leaves me as not ure of it's actual age. Please view this item in the photo below. Because of it's length, it would be very difficult to ship this item overseas.. Length = 173 cm ; Weight = 772 gm This artifact is from the estate of Dain Torguson. The family will use the proceeds from the sale of this artifact to display a sculpture crafted by Dain in a public library in Rapid City, North Dakota. |
