This is a very old [19th Century] Sudanese War Thrusting Spear made for hand to hand combat on foot and against horsemen as well. Heavy barbed head with double barbs behind for backstroke gripping.. Forged iron socket band and natural cane haft. Excellent overall with good genuine aging throughout. Fine proportions. Originally purchased from the Fagan Arms catalog. Because of overall length, it would be difficult to ship this spear overseas. Length = 186 cm ; Weight = 460 gm This artifact is from the estate of Dain Torguson. The family will use the proceeds from the sale of this artifact to display a sculpture crafted by Dain in a public library in Rapid City, North Dakota. |
