Item CS01
This large and heavy Central Desert hunting boomerang is
one of the largest that I have seen. It is made out of a
really nice piece of Mulga that has become darker with age.
There are some natural wood flaws as well as some edge chips
on the ends from use and a couple of edge cracks that are
common when old and heavy boomerangs loose moisture over the
years. These extra large boomerangs were always carried by
adult men who would use them to crack the skull of a
kangaroo that was wounded with a woomera and spear. These
were also used for digging and for fighting. This one was
probably made in the mid 20th Century. Length = 78 cm ;
Weight = 598 gm
