This item is a large Ayacucho Cabuya sling made out of plant fibres in the town of Ayacucho, Peru. Most of the Peruvian slings are made out of Camelid fibres. Ayacucho is the only source for these plant fibre slings. The sling is very stiff, but it will soften with use and moisture ( not recommended for collectibles). The whip end is made out of shredded plastic. The origin is the large bags used by the post office to ship books at an inexpensive international surface mail rate. I think these bags are no longer used. A very unusual contemporary sling in new condition. I have a friend who travelled throughout South American and he collected this sling in Ayacucho in 2004.

Length = 153 cm ; Weight = 144 gm
