This item is a sling used to throw a projectile such as a stone. Herders throughout the world used this device to protect their flocks. This sling was made in the 1990s. It was collected by Ben Ruhe, a well known world traveler who previously worked at the Smithsonian Institution, in a Llasan Bazaar in 1997. The pouch is solid and diamond shaped. It is made out of bicolored wool which has a faint musk odor of the Yak. This sling has red fibres attached to the finger loop. Some of the extra fibres are wrapped in multicolored cordage. This sling is in excellent condition. It has light wear and it includes a multi-finger loop and a tuft at the other end to quiet the sound of the release. A very nice contemporary artifact.

Length = 217 cm ; Weight = 104 gm
