This unusual artifact is an atlatl finger hold from the Colima Culture ( 200 BC - 300 AD) in Mexico. It was made out of a large shell crescent fragment. The edges are decorated and there is a small hole on both sides to tie the finger hold to an atlatl. A pair of these were used on a finished atlatl. This one is in excellent condition. It is from the Allen Heflin collection and it has collection ID marks printed on the inner surface. The inventory ID is AXH 1069.7 I acquired it in 1999 from Hank Johnson who was liquidating the Heflin collection. The collection tag is included. Very nice example and in excellent condition.

Length = 4 cm ; Weight = 16 gm
