This item is a sling used to throw a projectile such as a stone. Hearders throughout the world used this device to protect their flocks. This sling was made in the 1990s. It was collected by Ben Ruhe, a well known world traveller who previously worked at the Smithsonian Institution. The pouch is solid and diamond shaped. It is made out of bi-colored wool which has the faint musk odor of the Yak. This sling is in excellent condition. It has minimal wear and it includes the finger loop and a tuft at the other end to quiet the sound during the release. A very nice contemporary artifact. |
