This is a collection of 3 lithic artifacts collected in by Ben Ruhe in the 1970s. Ben said that he collected these in the Central Desert, not far from Ayres Rock. All 3 of the lithic artifacts are celts or stone axes and they are all polished smooth on the working surfaces. The material used on all three are different. One of the celts has a side that is flat and it is made out of a dense material that is brown and resembles basalt. The other two appear to be a very hard and dense sandstone or other conglomerate that has two different stone materials in a matrix. See photos. The celt lengths are between 7 cm and 8 cm. The thickness varies between 14 mm and 21 mm. The weights are 65 gm, 91 gm and 116 gm. A very nice collection of Australian Aboriginal stone tools.
