This item is a sling used to throw a projectile such as a
stone. Herders throughout the world used this device to
protect their flocks. This sling was made in the 1990s. It
was collected by Ben Ruhe, a well known world traveler who
previously worked at the Smithsonian Institution, in a
Llasan Bazaar in 1997. The pouch is solid and diamond
shaped. It is made out of tricolored wool which has a faint
musk odor of the Yak. This sling has red fibres in the leads
on both sides of the pouch. This sling is in excellent
condition. It has minimal wear and it includes a very large
wrist loop and a tuft at the other end to quiet the sound of
the release. A very nice contemporary artifact. This is the
largest Tibetan sling I have seen.
