This is a very old hardwood club from the Southern Desert of Australia. This type of club has a nearly constant thickness throughout and the entire surface has very fine longitudinal fluting except at the handle end which is about 25% of the entire length. There are 6 circumferential groves on the handle end and the very last segment has Spinifex resin on one side only. The end opposite the handle has an age crack for about 8 cm. Other than the age crack and missing Spinifex resin, this club is in very nice original condition. It was made in the 19th Century using stone tools. I purchased this club from the Barclay Gallery in 1987.

Length = 69 cm ; Weight = 529 gm
