This long distance boomerang is the predecessor to the famous Challenger III. It has the same shape as the Challenger, but it is made out of plywood. There is a lead weight embedded in both blade tips. This one is painted red and white on the upper surface with Native American art on the dingle arm. The underside has " Red Eagle " and " Father of the Challenger 3 ; To Ted - with heartful thanks! " written with Volker's initials. This one has wear from use, but no cracks or dings or other forms of damage. I have owned this boomerang for more than 15 years and have never thrown it. It has immense collectible value because Volker only made a couple of these for his personal use, so please take good care of it.

Specifications: Right Handed ; Tip-to-tip Span = 42 cm ; Weight = 104 gm

Volker Behrens was a well known commercial manufacturer of sporting and competition boomerang products. Volker was also a competitor and a member of the German International Boomerang Team. Volker was a pioneer in the development of long distance boomerangs and he demonstrated throws of 150 metres in the 1980s with his popular Challenger III Paxolin Hook. Volker made the last of his boomerang products in 2011 and he died in June, 2012. His boomerangs have become great collectibles because they are considered to be comparable to boomerangs made by Herb Smith.
