This large right handed traditional boomerang was made in the 1970s by Jack Byham out of 7.5 mm Aussie plywood. Both surfaces are protected with a clear coat. The upper surface of the elbow is decorated with art depicting an Aborigine hunting in the bush. The art is very similar to that of Bunny Read. The tips are black with cross hatching and bands as is typical for boomerangs made by Jack Byham. This boomerang is relatively easy to throw for such a large size and it is impressive to watch in the air. It is in very good condition with no damage and it used to be part of Brother Brian Thomas' throw kit. A nice collectible at an attractive price.

Specifications: Right Handed ; Span = 69 cm ; Weight = 234 gm

Jack Byham was one of Australia's best known boomerang manufacturers. He was a real 'Crocodile Dundee' who spent a lot of time with the Aborigines. Jack made boomerangs and throwsticks using traditional Aboriginal methods and many of his products are mistakenly identified as genuine Aboriginal artifacts. Jack is most famous for his commercial boomerang products that spanned a half century from the Olympic Games in Melbourne (1956) through the 1990s. Jack made exceptional throwsticks and natural elbow boomerangs and these are in high demand by Australian collectors.
