Richard Ruhe is the younger brother of Barnaby Ruhe. Richard was active on the tournament circuit in the 1980s, but he dropped out of competition when he moved to China to pursue his Ph.D in Chinese. Richard's boomerangs are very rare because he made very few.

This large traditional boomerang came out of the Max Hoeben collection. It was made out of plywood by Richard Ruhe in 1979 and given to Max in 1983 by Richard's brother, Barnaby Ruhe. The underside has a collection tag that says "Richard Ruhe" and an ink mark that says "'79". The upper surface is signed by both Richard Ruhe and Barnaby Ruhe and dated 1983. The art is abstract with USA and and apple and NYC (New York City). The underside is cambered along the entire length. This boomerang is a very nice flyer with a range of 20-25 metres.
