Jack Byham was one of Australia's best known boomerang manufacturers. He was a real 'Crocodile Dundee' who spent a lot of time with the Aborigines. Jack made boomerangs and throwsticks using traditional Aboriginal methods and many of his products are mistakenly identified as genuine Aboriginal artifacts. Jack is most famous for his commercial boomerang products that spanned a half century from the Olympic Games in Melbourne (1956) through the 1990s. Jack made exceptional throwsticks and natural elbow boomerangs and these are in high demand by Australian collectors.

This very large traditional boomerang was made from a mulga wood natural elbow in 1979. The reverse elbow has a kangaroo. There is a Binghi Boomerang sticker and it is signed and dated Oct '79. It is also marked No 7 and noted that Jack was president of the Boomerang Association of Australia at the time that this boomerang was made. I did not try to throw this boomerang, but the airfoiling is very good and proper dihedral has been added to both blades. All surfaces are soft and smooth. There are a couple of small areas that have paint transfer marks. There is also a natural wood knot at the tip of the dingle arm. This knot has a moisture loss split which is noticeable on the underside, but not on the upper surface. This is a very nice and early collectable by a very famous Australian boomerang manufacturer and thrower.

Specifications: Length = 61 cm ; Weight = 324 gm
