This strip laminated "U" was made out of Basswood in 1987. It is from the first production run and it is signed and dated 10 March 1987. Basswood is slightly lighter than Cherry, so the flight range should be about 30 metres. This boomerang is in new condition. I have never thrown it. It has been stored in a collection box for 34 years without exposure to light, humidity or temperature changes. This was one of Doug's most popular production models. A really great collectible with historical significance.

Specifications: Right Handed ; Tip-to-tip Span = 30 cm ; Weight = 54 gm

Doug DuFresne was one of America's best known boomerang manufacturers in the 1980s and 1990s. Doug manufactured a line of high quality Birch plywood and strip laminated boomerangs that were consistently wonderful flyers. Most strip laminated boomerangs were made out of Cherry and/or Ash. The manufacturing tolerances were as tight as you would see on an automotive product. Doug stopped producing boomerangs in the late 1990s and the price of his boomerangs increased dramatically. Doug was one of America's top throwers and a member of the American boomerang team during the formation of the United States Boomerang Association. Doug was also active in the formulation of the USBA competition rule book in the mid 1980s.
