This strip laminated boomerang was made in 1986 out of Ash and finished with a clear coat of high gloss Polyurethane. Both tips are painted on both sides. I purchased this boomerang directly from Ben Dehner in 1986. It is in new condition. I only threw it a few times to determine the flight performance. It is very light weight and has a flight range of approximately 35 metres, more if you add a coin to the lift arm tip. A very fine collectible in new condition

Specifications: Right Handed ; Tip-to-tip Span = 38 cm ; Weight = 68 gm

Ben Dehner made beautiful strip laminated boomerangs at his home in Atchison, Kansas back in the 1980s. The technique that he used for his earliest models was to glue the strips and then wrap rubber strips cut from an inner tube around the pieces until they dried. The early models were made out of a very light hardwood (spruce) strips, making them almost too light for sports throwing for my personal tastes. The later models were made with heavier hardwoods, such as Mahogany and Ash and these boomerangs were wonderful sporting boomerangs that were both functional and very attractive. Ben has not produced any boomerangs commercially for almost two decades, so his models have become quite collectable, especially the models made in the late 1980s.
