This classic two bladed Fast Catch boomerang is a high performance model that I acquired from Chet in 1988. It is made out of 5.6 mm Birch plywood and painted bright red orange on both surfaces. The blades have camber along the entire length and the underside of the leading edges are beveled. This is the most popular two bladed Fast Catch design about the same time as when tribladers entered the competition scene.

There is a story that goes with this boomerang. In 1988, Chet called me on the telephone and told me that he loaned one of his Fast Catch boomerangs to a teenager who lived in the neighborhood. The teenager returned with replicas that were much faster than the original that Chet had loaned to him. Chet made replicas of the new version and this boomerang is one of the second generation models. I went down to Delaware to visit Chet and he gave me this boomerang to demonstrate the performance. Chet could do 5 catch rounds in the low 20 second range. I could not do a fast and stable round because I was left handed, blind in one eye and also, I was not Chet, so this boomerang is an example of the technology that Chet used to win a large number of tournaments. By the way, the teenager being introduced to boomerang throwing was Mark Legg. All of Mark's boomerangs have narrow blades and this design shows how Mark's preferences for boomerang design influenced Chet's competitive edge. Lots of history here!
