This large and beautiful natural elbow throwstick was made out of Hornbean, a very hard wood that grows in Michigan. I used to run near this tree in the woods near my home in Ann Arbor. I noticed the perfect curvature of this Hornbean as the trunk came out of the ground at an angle at the top of a hill. Bob Foresi visited with me in the late 1990s and he helped me harvest the trunk from this tree. Several natural elbow throwstick blanks were cut from the trunk and this is one of the largest. The inside edge of the bend has a beautiful fiddle back, or curly, pattern. This is the result of the tree making a sharp bend as it came out of the ground. The inside edge has " RAF 12-01 " burned into the surface. This hunting boomerang has a waxed finish over a very smooth surface. A good flyer with a 80-110 metre flight in calm conditions. It works either right or left handed. When thrown right handed, it has a bit of a tail at the end of the flight, but it stays low. The feel and handling is similar to the best throwsticks made by Australian Aborigines. Comes with detailed hand written instructions.

Right Handed ; Tip-to-tip Span = 73 cm ; Weight = 352 gm

Bob has been making and throwing boomerangs and hunting sticks for more than 30 years. His strip laminated throwsticks were superb for using in throwstick competitions and they are like Gerhards hooks in feel and construction. Bob occasionally makes natural elbow and plywood sport boomerangs.
