This beautiful hunting boomerang was made out of a Spalted tropical Guava natural elbow in 1987. Volker acquired the elbow when he visited his aunt who lives in Mexico. This is the only natural elbow and the only hunting boomerang made by Volker. I have never thrown it. It was made for display. The spalted grain is absolutely beautiful and it was finely sanded and coated with high gloss Polyurethane for protection. It is signed and dated 4/87. This throwstick is in mint condition, but there is a blemish in the wood at the throwing end that you can feel with your finger, but it does not hurt the appearance. This is a very fine and rare collectible by this very famous boomerang manufacturer.

Specifications: Right Handed ; Tip-to-tip Span = 43 cm ; Weight = 102 gm

Volker Behrens was a well known commercial manufacturer of sporting and competition boomerang products. Volker was also a competitor and a member of the German International Boomerang Team. Volker was a pioneer in the development of long distance boomerangs and he demonstrated throws of 150 metres in the 1980s with his popular Challenger III Paxolin Hook. Volker made the last of his boomerang products in 2011 and he died in June, 2012. His boomerangs have become great collectibles because they are considered to be comparable to boomerangs made by Herb Smith.
