This unusual boomerang is the first Carbon/Carbon boomerang made by Volker Behrens. Volker obtained a small sheet of this very expensive material which offers properties of light weight and high stiffness in 1987. Volker then made this boomerang for me as an experimental model and sent it to me to see if it had marketing potential. On my first throw, the boomerang flew over 50 metres and hit the side of a school building. It took a chip out of the building and the boomerang was completely without damage. I was amazed. I moved back 20 more metres and enjoyed several complete returns with flights exceeding 60 metres. Because of the material cost, Volker did not market Carbon/Carbon boomerangs until a few years before his death. He did make a few Challenger IIIs out of this material and Moleman set a world record in Long Distance using a borrowed C/C Challenger III. I have not thrown this boomerang since 1987. It has remained in storage for almost 3 decades, It is still in very nice condition.

Specifications: Right Handed ; Tip-to-tip Span = 28 cm ; Weight = 54 gm

Volker Behrens was a well known commercial manufacturer of sporting and competition boomerang products. Volker was also a competitor and a member of the German International Boomerang Team. Volker was a pioneer in the development of long distance boomerangs and he demonstrated throws of 150 metres in the 1980s with his popular Challenger III Paxolin Hook. Volker made the last of his boomerang products in 2011 and he died in June, 2012. His boomerangs have become great collectibles because they are considered to be comparable to boomerangs made by Herb Smith.
